Welcome to the Soul Beat Africa D & G networking space!
This space forms part of an initiative between Soul Beat Africa and the Mobilising Knowledge for Development (MK4D) project of the Institute for Development Studies (IDS) in the UK. It is intended for people working in D & G in Africa, with a specific focus on communication and media. This communication and media focus relates to a range of strategies used to support good governance in Africa such as e-governance; community action, mobilisation and participation; communication around elections, peacebuilding and conflict management, corruption, and human rights; as well as communication with parliamentarians - to mention just a few.
This D & G online networking space is designed to help you share information, build professional connections, identify opportunities for collaborative programming, share lessons learned, and generally to discuss and explore ways to improve the impact of your work in Africa.
We have set up a specific space called "Information Sharing and Networking" (see below) which is intended to be an informal space for you to share information (on your upcoming events, projects, research publications etc.) with this growing network of people working in D & G in Africa, as well as obtain feedback from the network. You can also use this space to ask general questions related to your work in D & G in Africa eg. "Do you know a good D & G evaluation consultant working in Nigeria?" or "Is anyone working on an election training manual for journalists in Mali?" etc.
We will be running two discussions in this space - one on Citizen Education and another upcoming one on the need for a D & G and human rights journalism network in Africa. However, if you have any other suggestions for discussion topics, we would love to hear them. Just use the general info sharing space to submit your ideas.
If you have any questions, you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to your contributions.
