ShyamalSantra is leading the program operation in North India of Restless Development India as Programme Manager. He has nearly Seven years of experience of leading and managing Community Development programs aided by international agencies like UNICEF, DFID, CDC, Save the Children and corporates. Before joining Restlesss Development India in June, 2013 he was engaged as State Consultant-Community for UNICEF and lead person in developing and implementing UNICEF’s community based MNCH strategy under the Village Health Committee of the Panchayat in Jharkhand. Under this strategy ‘Village Health and Nutrition Day’ has been implemented in 40,000 villages of the state by the Government of Jharkhand. A highly strategic and innovative skill building program was executed for 19000 frontline workers and government officials under his leadership.He was also involved in designing the Tribal Health and Urban Health strategy for Government of Jharkhand and designed the first ‘MamtaWahan’, considered to be one of the most successful initiative by Govt. of Jharkhand in Ranchi district. He had served in various high level panels and committees including ‘State Review Mission, Jharkhand. Started his career in MoynaNetajiPalliUnnyanTarunSangha, a Community Based Organization in West Bengal, he has also been the lead person in setting up ‘Education Resource Centre’ and rolling out of ‘Educate a Child: Sponsorship for Education Program’ for CINI. As the lead person he played a critical role in piloting of ‘Child and Women Friendly Community’ initiative. The unique aspect of this initiative was brining Panchayat, Community, Government Agencies and NGOs in a common platform and signing ‘Social Contract’ between Panchayat and NGO to convert awareness to action. Over the years he has been working as Community Development strategist covering community mobilization, community based management and community based monitoring in areas of Education, Women Empowerment and Public Health. Another area where he has been constantly engaged is partnering with Panchayati Raj Institutions.
He holds a Master Degree in Social Work and also Post Graduate in Development Management from Tata-Dhan Academy, Madurai.
