I am currently finishing a Masters degree in Media and International Development at the University of East Anglia with modules in Conflict, Peace and Security, and Politics and the Mass Media.
I am keen to conduct and study research into where media, culture and politics meet and intersect, with a focus on Africa in particular, and in post-conflict sites and in underdeveloped, rural spaces rather than in highly populated urban settings. The reason for my interest in this area is that while I am an Indian citizen, my family is based I live in Uganda.Prior to this I worked in the creative industries in New Delhi, and believe that the creative arts, through the media, can become a cornerstone towards enabling communities to find expression and articulate identity, and therefore, have a role to play towards realizing progress and stability in variety of different ways.
My MA dissertation which i am currently working on will investigate the role of community radio in democratic participation and governance in fragile states, through a case study of a local radio station in Uganda.
