This annual conference is run by the University of Witwatersrand Journalism School in partnership with the Forum for African Investigative Reporters (FAIR) and supported by the Valley Trust, the Open Society Foundation, and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. According to the organisers, Power Reporting offers a broad range of learning opportunities, including new skills for experienced journalists, an introduction to investigative journalism for those at the start of their careers, and specialist speakers on current topics for specialist writers.

Registration information:

WITS invites investigative journalists to attend the conference. The registration fee is R2000.

Bursaries for reporting on climate change:

A limited number of bursaries are available for investigative journalists reporting climate change in sub-Saharan Africa and South Africa. The bursary will cover flights, accommodation, transport in South Africa, and food, but not visas and home country transport. To apply, send a motivation letter by email, with at least two examples of reporting on issues of climate change to powerreporting@journalism.co.za

Deadline for application is: October 14 2011.
