Updated mapping of journals

Hi everybody.

I have the draft of the mapping of C4D journals in an Excel document - I find that it creates a better overview than Word, but if you disagree, I can change it. I have pasted Ketan´s introductory text. A few notes on the matrix:

-The journals are listed alphabetically and with their geographical location. -The column "focus" is derived from the journals own presentation of their focus/scope. -The column "journal profil" is divided into "Occasional C4D articles"/ "C4D main topic" / Special C4D issue" - some of the journals have been given more than one of these categories. -The column "comments" invites you to specify how the journal relates to/is relevant for C4D and to your own project.

Please let me know if you need contact info for any of the editors or anything else you want me to follow up on,

Best, Liv

FYI - Paula is uploading for

FYI - Paula is uploading for me because I am having troubles uploading files to the CI platform. The updated list that Paula has posted for me includes the African journals Thomas pointed attention to - maybe they are not all relevant, but then you can delete them from the list. I wonder if it is possible to edit the list directly without downloading and uploading the document again? It doesn´t seem to be... anyway, that´s all for now. Liv.

Liv - Hi - the files were

Liv - Hi - the files were correctly upload to the platform - thanks.

Re this query above " I wonder if it is possible to edit the list directly without downloading and uploading the document again?".

Best and simplest way to achieve that would be to use Google Docs rather than Excel. Then you can provide people in the group with access permissions and they can edit/add to the document - so collectively compiling as I think you would like.

We would provide a link to the Google Doc from the platform. These work as URL links.

If you are not familiar with the Google Docs process let me know and we can help. It would mean someone re-entering the data already entered but probably better to do now than later when there is more info.

Best - Warren

Hi Warren, Should Google

Hi Warren, Should Google Docs be used for the Participants List and the Mapping of Constitutions and Membership Structures and Fees too? We have a volunteer who has been collecting data and inserting into an Excel file for a few days this week. I have never used it but willing to learn. Hello to Live, too. Paula

Paula - thanks for Mapping

Paula - thanks

  1. for Mapping of constitutions and membership structures, if you want these files to be collectively contributed to, developed and edited then I would recommend Google Docs. Google Docs is deigned for this very purpose. People do need a Google account - eg gmail email - but that is easy for folks that do not have at present. Doing it this way will prevent separate files being in play with the possible confusion and additional work that can result.

  2. For the Participants List the beginnings of this are of course already in place on the platform - see http://networks.comminit.com/c4dassociation/members with a number of people registered. When we have formal membership with the fees payment process that is the sole revenue stream for this proposed Association then membership will of course be restricted to those who have paid, etc. For everyone there are profiles, photo options, contact processes, etc

Thanks - Warren

Dear Liv Thanks for the xls

Dear Liv

Thanks for the xls sheet with the journals. The list is quiet comprehensive, if there are any other journals I can think of I will add within the next week, by 16-17 Aug.

Thomas, you had mentioned that we could write a brief paper summarizing the findings once we do the mapping and have some analytical arguments how to promote greater C4D research/practice and whether or not a new journal is required for the field. May be we can try to get the first draft of the paper out by 25 Aug or earlier and finalize the paper by 29 Aug, before our meeting.

Cheers Ketan

Dear Liz et al.,

Hi Doug. I couldn´t see any attachments in your post, but I have included the suggested journal in the google docs document alphabetically. Please have a look and include relevant comments if you wish, Best, Liv.

Hi everybody. I have now

Hi everybody. I have now uploaded the mapping of C4D journals in google docs. You should all be able to edit directly in the document if you follow this link:

Let me know if its working out or if there are any problems, Best, Liv.

Liv - thanks

  1. For ease of access I have included this link as its own block at top of the home page on the platform - see http://networks.comminit.com/c4dassociation/
  2. When I opened the link to the Doc it looked like it had lost some of its formatting within Google Docs. Perhaps this was only for me - but please take a look just in case.

Thanks - Warren

Great with the link at the top of the page!

By the way- in the google

By the way- in the google docs the journals are listed alphabetically - also the new ones you have added

Not sure who is collecting

Not sure who is collecting the various documents, but I am attaching here (at least, I think it attached) a copy of the Author's Guidelines for the new USAID journal, Global Health Science & Practice. There is no track record yet for this journal. The first issue is expected out before the end of the calendar year, but I have requested a rundown of the kinds of submissions they are getting so far and will try to report on that at the consultation.
