Mario studied Biological Anthropology at the University of Kent. After graduating he went on to work in public-health research at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, assisting in the investigation of a mobile-phone-based smoking-cessation service. Mario then went onto work in thoracic-surgery research at the pioneering Royal Brompton Hospital in London, where he worked with surgeons to expand their human tissue and lung cancer research. He then joined The Lancet, the world renowned medical journal, as a Senior Assistant Editor, where he reported on global health news and worked with leading global-health professionals to publish pioneering research, while finding time to create and present The Lancet News Podcast. Mario is now working with the MTV Staying Alive Foundation to reach millions of young people around the world with life-saving HIV-prevention messaging using the power of the MTV brand.
