Rosa Ongeso is a seasoned development professional who has served in various capacities in the development sector since 1993 with several years of exposure to international development partners, public and non-governmental sectors and the diplomatic community. She has tested experience in programme management of capacity-building projects and programmes; diplomacy; designing and leading strategic communications; designing resource mobilisation strategies for fundraising and developing partnerships. Rosa Ongeso served variously as Programme Officer, Resource Mobilisation Officer and Head of Outreach and External Affairs at the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), a leading development organisation based in Zimbabwe, focused on poverty reduction and sustainable development in African countries. Prior to joining ACBF, Rosa was Programme Administrator for five years at the Regional Office of the Canadian International Development Research Centre (IDRC-EARO) based in Nairobi, Kenya. She coordinated grant administration of regional economic and social programmes funded by IDRC-EARO.
Rosa supported the Government of Kenya in information dissemination while working as Senior Information Officer at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Additionally, she served as Press Officer/ Second Secretary on Diplomatic posting to the Kenya Embassy in France for five years. As a result of these experiences, she is able to offer advice on government relations building and international relations. This exposure also deepened her knowledge of European Affairs and Europe in general including donor relations and donors’ development frameworks related to African countries.
Rosa holds a Masters Degree in Leadership and Management obtained at the African Academy for Leadership and Management, accredited to the University of Zimbabwe; a Masters in Mass Communication from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom and Bachelors of Art Degree in Political Science and French obtained at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. She speaks Kiswahili, French, English and Dholuo. She is currently consulting in the area of Development as an Independent Consultant.
