Mumtaz Ali

With M.Phil degree in Anthropology specialized in Anthropology of Art and Culture (Continuity and Change in Motifs) in perspective of Katas Raj Temples, and M.Sc in Anthropology specialized in Medical Anthropology (Social Illnesses and Traditional Healings) form Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad has almost five years of work experience in Behavior Change Communication (BCC), qualitative and quantitative research, monitoring and evaluation, training, report writing and knowledge management with different organizations such as UNICEF, Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA), Ministry of Population Welfare and National Institute of Population Studies (NIPS).

Mumtaz has worked with National Institute of Population Studies (NIPS) Government of Pakistan as project coordinator on evaluation of impact of media on Reproductive Health Behavior, Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey (PDHS) and Demand for Male Children in Rural Settings.

He has worked with Ministry of Population Welfare as Social Scientist/Instructor on Reproductive Health Package, mother child care, family planning and population welfare programs and Policies in support of MDGs in Pakistan

Mumtaz has worked with Knowledge Management Cell at Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) as Research Officer to execute the overall knowledge management activities of ERRA that included field research, communication with partner organizations, preparing case studies, reports, briefings, presentation, training material and also coordination within the organization and with the implementing departments and partners in the field.

He has also been working as consultant for Technical Assistance Management Agency (TAMA), International Catholic Migration Commission (ICM), World Health Organization (WHO), International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Commonwealth, OXFAM GB The Network and The Sight Saver.

He has been voluntary Secretary Pakistan Evaluation Network (PEN); Member White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) for safe motherhood, associate member of International Organization for Cooperation on Evaluation (IOCE) USA, Women Delivers and Youth Alliance of Pakistan.

Mumtaz has worked with as Behavior Change Communication (BCC) Expert with UNICEF on Maternal, Newborn ad Child Health (MNCH) (MDGs 4&5) to work on an intensive BCC agenda of the National MNCH Program (reference federal and provincial AWPs 2009) primarily to support the rolling out of its communication plans.

He has recently completed his assignment as Communication Specialist for WatSan with Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) at its Headquarter, PM Secretariat, Islamabad.

Currently, he is teaching courses health promotion, health research, and gender equity in health as Health Services Academy (HSA), Islamabad as a visiting faculty member. And secondly he is pursuing his PhD studies in Anthropology at QAU, Islamabad and consulting free lance in social research, health promotion, health research, monitoring and evaluation, training etc.
