Re: Welcome to the World - Is it better to be born poor or die poor? and Solar Mamas - Are women better at getting out of poverty than men?

Hi and best wishes.

I’m curious about how the education of mothers might be a predictor of the education, well-being, and future choices of children, particularly daughters. This may seem a bit far afield from early childhood development, but evidence from your work would be appreciated in this forum, and, certainly, I would be appreciative.

Here is a film from Why Poverty on one woman’s educational quest that brought results: Solar Mamas - Are women better at getting out of poverty than men? http://www.comminit.com/global/content/solar-mamas-are-women-better-getting-out-poverty-men

In contrast, here is their film on birth of new babies: Welcome to the World - Is it better to be born poor or die poor?
http://www.comminit.com/global/content/welcome-world-it-better-be-born-poor-or-die-poor It reports on high rates of infant mortality and maternal mortality in teenagers, which has led me to look for more data related to education, of girls in particular.

If you can help with evidence, please reply to this email or send to children@comminit.com

All the best,
Julie
