Agenda - Meeting at UNAIDS Geneva and online

Hi - attached please find the draft agenda for the "Impact: social and Behavioural Change" meeting hosted by UNAIDS in Geneva on March 29th 2011. Click on link below Read More below to access the full message and the Agenda file attachment. We are sending this to both people confirmed to attend and others who expressed interest as there are some processes included to support virtual participation if you are interested.

To recap, the meeting will work to these objectives. (1) To present the most compelling data from research and evaluation of long-term social and behavioural action at significant scale and (2) To present, debate, and distill the major strategic and programming conclusions from the research and evaluation data presented.

Please note that within the agenda (see the last page) there is a page on the engagement process - how we will handle the critical debate, review and dialogue parts of the agenda. This includes the use of the online platform so that those who are unable to be in Geneva due to meeting room space reasons can engage if you wish (and again profuse apologies for not being able to confirm your in person participation if this applies to you).

There are many people who will be both be in attendance in Geneva and will not be there who could speak very authoritatively to the meeting objectives. We very much appreciate everyone's tolerance and understanding re the format of this meeting. I am sure we have all had experiences of meetings where there were either so many presentations that there was no time for debate, dialogue and engagement and/or the presentation were so short that significant richness and detail are not shared - everything looks too superficial or lacking in validation. With just 5 significant presentations and considerable time for questions and debate we are seeking to ensue both rich detailed presentations and considerable review time. But of course that means many people who could/should present will not and we really appreciate your understanding and tolerance.

When you access the platform to review the agenda - attached as a file to this post - please do remember to click your username top left then Account Settings and then Profile and Picture and insert your details. The "people" part of this platform - click on the 'head" icon is the participants list for this process. So please make sure your details are included.

Thanks - all comments and questions on the agenda most welcome!

Best wishes - Warren

FORMAT: Critical review, dialogue, and debate

Related to the 4 substantive sessions we are going to try and work to the principle of (a) time for substantive detailed presentations and (b) substantive time for critical review dialogue and debate.

This note outlines a structure for the dialogue process.

  1. Each of the 4 sessions will be chaired by a CI Partner – commencing with someone from UNAIDS chairing the opening session in polio..
  2. For each of the 4 sessions, two people will be asked to open the critique – to set the tone with short, (hopefully) sharp observations or questions related to each presentation.
  3. Those people will remain in their seats in the “audience” – they will not be on the “stage”.
  4. The “Chair” will be informed who they are and will recognize and request their feedback first.
  5. After that, we will rely on the Chairperson’s skills to keep people’s comments short, establish themes that are emerging, explore those themes, etc.
  6. We will make the presentation available through the online platform just before people begin to speak.
  7. In the room, we have wireless for all who have lap-tops, and there may also be people whose registrations we could not accept but who are logging onto the online platform to review the presentations.
  8. On that online platform there will be a place for people to submit comments and questions. We will monitor these online comments and questions as they come in and note ones of importance. These we will highlight to the chair of each session.
  9. We will also use that online platform to make open notes for all who cannot be in the room but are interested so that they can follow the comments and discussions online.
  10. One further person will be asked for each session (so 4 people in total) to provide the summary of (a) 4 compelling points learned from the presentation relative to the objectives of the day, and (b) 4 major challenges identified from the critique of the presentation. This will come as the final contribution for each session.
  11. Finally, we will use the online poll facility of The CI platform to do a quick assessment of each presentation.

Thank You for this

Thank You for this Agenda.

Merci pour cet agenda.

NB.
