HIV/AIDS, Young People, Research

Whilst work on HIV continues and evaluations and country statistics are showing some successes, there continues to be every reason to focus on young people in the mix of targeted concerns. This theme is carried forward by the HIV/AIDS, Young People, Research site here: www.comminit.com/hivaids-youngpeople/category/sites/global/hivaids-young-people-research/

Its particular effort to gather in research-based information on this age group is evident in summaries like: 1) Developing a Text Messaging Risk Reduction Intervention for Methamphetamine-Using MSM: Research Note http://www.comminit.com/hivaids-youngpeople/content/developing-text-messaging-risk-reduction-intervention-methamphetamine-using-msm-research The aim of this study was to conduct formative work to develop a text messaging intervention to reduce methamphetamine use and high-risk sexual behaviours among out-of-treatment men who have sex with men (MSM). MSM who use methamphetamine experience high risks for HIV infection.

2) Most-at-risk Populations: Unveiling New Evidence for Accelerating Programming http://www.comminit.com/hivaids-youngpeople/content/most-risk-populations-unveiling-new-evidence-accelerating-programming This 30-page publication shares reports from a series of studies undertaken among most-at-risk populations (MARPs) in Kenya between 2009 and 2011. According to the publication, the need for effective interventions among MARPs is increasingly recognised in Kenya’s national HIV response.
