Mapping Digital Media: Citizen Journalism and the Internet
"Citizen journalists have become regular contributors to mainstream news through digital advances, providing information and images. Due to their independent status, questions arise on the values that underpin good journalism, the need of citizens for reliable and abundant information, and the importance of such information for a healthy society and a robust democracy."

Hi, Thanks for sharing these

Hi,

Thanks for sharing these resources, Warren, and it was good to see that "annthorsted" further shared them with his/her network to try to spark further ideas.

I recently ran across this:
Verification Handbook: A Definitive Guide to Verifying Digital Content for Emergency Coverage
http://www.comminit.com/global/content/verification-handbook-definitive-guide-verifying-digital-content-emergency-coverage

which is "a resource for journalists and aid providers that offers tools, techniques, and step-by-step guidelines for how to deal with user-generated content (UGC) during emergencies. It would be interesting to hear what other journalists' tactics are in this kind of situation.
