Frenk Guni Bio Dr. Frenk Guni is a renowned expert on HIV/AIDS, epidemiology and public health policy and program management. He is the 2003 recipient of the Jonathan Mann Global Award for Health and Human Rights. He is also the recipient of the 2002 International Award for Leadership in HIV/AIDS Programming. In August 2009, Dr. Guni received the esteemed award of excellence in HIV/AIDS research and policy awarded by the African immigrant Community in America (AICOMA). He is widely recognized as an HIV/AIDS and public health policy expert. Dr. Guni as a public health and diplomatic consultant has provided services for UNAIDS, WHO, the Organization of African Unity, US Department of Health and Human Services, USAID, Emory University Faculties of Public Health and Medicine, PACT, AED, The Synergy Project, The Futures Group, Doctors Concerned About AIDS, Global Council on Foundations, US State Department, the Global Fund for TB, Malaria and HIV/AIDS and, most recently, Georgetown University’s Health Policy Institute (HPI) among a plethora of agencies all over the world. Dr. Guni has served as an expert on various HIV/AIDS panels including the Human Resources Services Administration (HRSA) Clinical Experts on HIV/AIDS and Public Health, CDC Special Emphasis Panel of Reviewers, Indiana University School of Medicine-continued medical education & HIV/AIDS and Clinical Considerations for Rolling out HIV Anti-Retroviral Therapy. Dr. Guni has since 1989 served as special technical sessions and planning committee member for the international conference on AIDS now managed by the International AIDS Society. Guni was an executive board member for the National AIDS Council of Zimbabwe for tow terms. He is currently the Co-Chair of the Global Network of People living with HIV/AIDS (GNP+NA); He is a founding board member of the Network of African People living with HIV/AIDS (NAP+) and he also served on board of the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA). Dr. Guni is a current member of the board of directors for the international council of AIDS service organization (ICASO). He serves as an eminent advisor for Action Aid on Public Health and HIV/AIDS Policy and he is also a Public Health analyst for Voice of America, IRIN, SW Radio Africa and several other media outlets. Dr. Guni continues to provide diplomatic counsel and analytical commentaries to the department of State and several congressional subcommittees on foreign relations among many other federal government agencies. In this regard he is considered a foremost expert on African diplomacy and Zimbabwean politics in particular.Dr. Guni has written several manuals on HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination, disclosure, human rights and leadership development among people living with HIV/AIDS. With more than 20 years of public health experience, Dr. Guni is formally trained in medicine and medical surgery (Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae), public health, health education and health promotion, neuro-psycho immunology, forensic science, clinical psychology and sociology. He operates as an independent consultant for the Department of Health and Human Services, CDC and the National Institutes of Health among many federal institutions. Dr. Guni served as Director for International Affairs for the U.S. National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA). He just completed a global health and PEPFAR funded project under contract with Management System International on a USAID global health and HIV/AIDS compliance project. Dr. Guni is currently pursuing studies in Forensic pathology working towards board certification by the American Board of Pathology.
