Inciting Healthy Behaviors: Nudge, Disrupt, Leapfrog, Reach: Grand Challenges Explorations Round 13
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
Deadline for Proposals: May 6th, 2014

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is inviting innovators who are developing deliverable, scalable interventions for populations in low- and middle-income countries to apply for its Grand Challenges Explorations programme. One of the topics focuses on inciting healthy behaviours through efforts to address these questions: "What makes people behave differently about their health? What makes people seek out and use health services or engage in positive preventive behaviors?" The Foundation is specifically interested in solutions ("interactive, contextual, scalable, and relevant to health systems strengthening") that are designed to address: reproductive health; maternal, neonatal, and child health; nutrition; HIV; tuberculosis (TB); polio, and vaccine delivery. (Brief information is here in each of these areas.) Solutions to these challenges might involve education, campaigns, behavioural "nudges", new support and incentive systems for access to care and treatment, and models and tools to understand health-seeking behaviours, constraints, and drivers...

... Initial grants will be US$100,000 each, and projects showing promise will have the opportunity to receive additional funding of up to US$1 million
